Anticipation is stirring as we all await the arrival and box office opening of the Great Gatsby remake this coming May, written and directed by Baz Luhrmann.Who didn’t fantasize at one point about marrying the great Gatsby, and now even more, Leonardo DiCaprio as he portrays the sexy ever so mysterious character? What could be more romantic than a Great Gatsby wedding theme? This era, of 1920′s fashion, partying and lavish wardrobes has inspired many brides to choose an art deco, speakeasy and flapper themed wedding. It allows you to experiment with elaborate embellishments; feathers, diamonds, pearls, and gold ribbon. Impress your guests with an amazing venue, such as a old vintage hotel or ballroom, decorated to the nines. Once I saw this vintage Great Gatsby inspired wedding in Belle Magazine, I knew it would be the perfect inspiration. I love how the tables are decorated with enormous feather plumes, which have replaced the traditional bouquet of flowers, and the venue is to die for. The grand staircase would be optimal to take wedding and guest photos and the wedding reception area is perfect for that speakeasy vintage aura.

Tell guests to come in costume; dress up for the occasion. Flapper dresses (modernly modified of course), such as this beautifully crafted 1920′s inspired wedding gown are perfect. Beautiful beaded headpieces, headbands, veils, (fake) fur shawls and pearls of course are also a must.  As for the men, have your groom and groomsmen wear classic suit jackets, paired with matching vests, top hats and shoes that could be associated with the Roaring Twenties.

You can inform your guests of your wedding, and of course the dress code with these elegantly designed art deco wedding invitations by the Monogram Gallery. They feature an art deco antique swirl graphic design on a printed vintage paper with a warm gold shade that fit perfectly with this Great Gatsby 1920′s theme. Click on the link below to be taken to the customization page, where you can completely personalize the design. As well, you can choose from a wide variety of other complimenting products with this design, such as RSVP cards and more.

Last but not least, don’t forget to impress your guests with lavishly decorated finger foods and obviously your wedding cake! I fell in love with the one pictured above, as it has been painted gold and decorated with a cute flower and a beautiful strain of pearls. This is one wedding cake that your guests will remember for a long time!

Remember to add an element of fun to your wedding photo shoot; of course use props and additions that will fit with your art deco theme. As mentioned before the grand stair case or elegant ballroom would be a perfect location.

Have fun planning! This is such an amazing theme and the sky is the limit for all of the things you can do!
